FOREWORD
God speaks to each of us as he makes us, then walks with us silently out of the night. Rilke
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. T.S. Eliot
Long before men and women have written and read the Word of God in print, God has already broadcast his invitation, embrace, challenge, encouragements and promises in the journeys that God has walked alongside humans since the burst of time.
Genesis tells us God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve in the cool of the afternoon. He summoned Abraham and Sarah out of their hometown and led them into a land though unknown to them was already mapped in God’s heart. God did not only cross the Red Sea with Israel, pursued by Pharaoh but he crisscrossed the deserts with them for 40 years, satisfying their needs, sometimes even their wants. God accompanied them during their exiles and deportations, and stood by them through their sinning and whining and shining.
And then, in the ripe time, God sent Jesus to the world on a mission that ended in Jesus’ death and rising from the dead, to the indwelling in each and every human being of his Spirit. And so, ever since that first Pentecost of 2000 years ago, women and men have trodden the earth with God not only beside, as it were, but in them.
This book is a print of one daughter’s dialogue and prayers with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit during her journeying with God. It is a testimony of the reiterating beauty and surprises, triumphs and defeats, the romance and the blunt reality of love. It is also a witness to God’s unwearied trust and faith in the women and men he loves as daughters and sons-no matter who and what they are.
Finally, it is a testament of God’s laughter and sighs as God realizes with us the peculiarly human journey-the quest for Jesus Christ-to the end that we share with others Him whom we have found. And then the quest begins once more.
Father Seraphim Molina
PRAISE FOR THE AUTHOR
Christie Blair is all about love; her smile lights up a room! She serves anyone she encounters during her day, whether they be down and out, or someone in whom she perceives a wound of the soul. Her gentle and giving ways reveal the heart of a child and her prayer life and dedication to God reveal the soul of a saint.
Christie and I met during a women’s retreat in 2019 and became fast friends and sisters in Christ. As we sat in a small group we shared our lives, our hopes and dreams, and our faith in God. Christie’s fervent love of God quickly became apparent, as well as her difficulty in recognizing her own worth.
Journey of the Soul - My Walk with the Lord brings you alongside Christie’s heart and mind as she journeys ever closer to her Lord. Also alongside is Christie’s mother, Doreen, a lovely and spiritual woman - my friend. Christie’s style of prose is her style of prayer; reverent, traditional, and deeply intimate.
